Sam-Bankman Fried’s rise and fall as FTX founder’s prison sentence nears

Sam-Bankman Fried launched the cryptocurrency alternate FTX in 2019, and it went bankrupt in 2022. Born in 1992 in California, he grew up in an instructional household, with each of his dad and mom professors at Stanford Legislation College.

He earned a physics diploma with a minor in arithmetic from MIT in 2014. Whereas in this system, he labored as an intern in 2013 for the buying and selling agency Jane Avenue Capital in New York. It was there that he met Caroline Ellison, who later grew to become his girlfriend. Ellison was additionally the CEO of Alameda Analysis, a quantitative cryptocurrency buying and selling agency and SBF’s first firm, based in 2017.
